Karina's Cake House is a cake shop situated on South Glendale Avenue that locals turn to when celebrating special occasions or simply craving a sweet treat. The shop is easily recognizable by its neat display of classic and Eastern European-style pastries and cakes, offering a nostalgic yet refined touch to Glendale’s dessert scene.

Inside, the atmosphere feels a bit formal and well-kept, lending itself nicely to picking up something for birthdays, anniversaries, or family gatherings. Customer interactions often highlight the prompt and attentive service that makes ordering straightforward — whether you’re selecting a ready-made cake or customizing a birthday greeting on the spot.

Karina’s selection goes beyond the usual birthday cake, including specialties like the Mikado slice pastry, which longtime regulars praise for its perfect balance of cream, and Kievsky cakes, available with or without nuts. Those looking to try a variety of pastries will find choices like cream puffs, French Napoleons, and opera slices that rotate through the case, with some favorites praised for their consistent quality across visits.

Parking around the shop can be a bit tight, so plan accordingly if you’re stopping by on weekends or closer to the afternoon when locals tend to pick up their orders. The shop’s vibe feels quiet but purposeful — a place where people pause to grab something meaningful for their celebration rather than linger.

Best time to visit: Mid-mornings or early afternoons on weekdays tend to be easier for both parking and attentive service. Ideal for those who want to avoid the weekend rush or last-minute cake emergencies.

Who will enjoy it: Anyone planning a special event or those craving a well-made pastry with an Eastern European twist. The cake house draws families, local residents who appreciate consistent quality, and those seeking a classic, no-frills cake shopping experience.

  • Specialties to try: Mikado slice, Kievsky cake (nut-free option available), classic cream puffs
  • Service: Quick and friendly, with effective in-store customization for celebrations
  • Pricing: Reasonably affordable given the quality and presentation—cakes generally range around $40-$60

Visitors can expect a straightforward cake shop experience focused on quality and tradition rather than trendy café vibes or elaborate décor. Karina’s Cake House holds steady as a reliable spot in Glendale for those who know what they want and appreciate a good, well-executed celebratory cake or pastry.

I wanted to give Karina's Cake House a try and it did not disappoint. I only tried a few of their pastries. My ultimate favorite was the cream puff and strawberry cake. All on all the quality of the pastries were good. Definitely going back to try more of their delicious pastries and cakes!

The quality and taste of their cakes and pastries are always consistently high. I bought a birthday cake for my sister and her guests loved it! I got a Kievsky cake with no nuts. Price is reasoble. It was easy to order, I just pointed the cake on display, and they wrote the name and greeting on the cake. Presto! I was out in 10 minutes. Service was quick. I also noticed that the customer service is so much better as compared to the first few times i visited this place. Parking is available along the street, on the side, and at the back.

First time trying their cakes. The space looks and feels regal. The staff is very nice. Parking was a little challenging. Will post an update once we try our Kivesky cake! Did purchase a slice of the Snickers cake not that good but not a big deal. We also tried a slice of Opera cake that was very good.

Their Mikado slices are the best in the world. I’ve tried Mikado in different places, countries, and cafés, but theirs is truly amazing. The balance is perfect because the amount of cream is not too much, and that’s what makes it so unique and tasty.

What a charming place, filled with an assortment of cakes and goodies. There is an entire wall of international deletes. Beautiful gift items you can buy. The staff was very helpful. Parking in back. A few places you can sit to relax and eat. Lots of charging plugs where you sit. You don't get the feeling like you are rushed to leave the place. It started to get super super busy after 9a.m. Their meringue was perfect!! So lite and crispy with a nut filling inside. I got a selection of items to try. Their almond crossiant is out of this world. I just got back from France.. and it right up there with the Best.
